The Most Beautiful Villages of France: Monflanquin itself is on the prestigious Les Plus Beaux Villages de France list, but so are the villages of Belvès, Beynac-et-Cazenac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Domme, La Roque-Gageac, Limeuil, Monpazier, and Pujols-le-Haut. All of these are within an hour's drive of us. There are also scores of other attractive villages nearby which didn't make it onto "the list."

Towns: Bustling Bergerac is 40 minutes away, with its many attractions. The lovely Sarlat-la-Canéda lies a little over an hour away, and its attractive architecture brings in tourists from near and far.

Chateaux: Thanks to being on the front lines of the Hundred Years War, our area is densely populated with beautiful chateaux, some within walking distance. Nearby chateaux, within 30 minutes drive, which we would recommend visiting are those at Biron, Bonaguil, and Gavaudun. Within an hour's drive are the chateaux of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Beynac-et-Cazenac, and Milandes.

Rivers: The beautiful River Dordogne lies about 40 minutes drive to our north. Canoes and kayaks can easily be rented so that you can float downstream, admiring the many chateaux and pretty villages which line its banks. The lovely River Lot is less than 20 minutes drive to our south.
